Completed in late 2024, this remarkable transformation in Stanwell Park turned a steep, underutilised backyard into a luxurious, multi-functional escape. A Steep Site Meets a Clear Vision
The homeowners envisioned a seamless, elevated entertaining area – a private retreat where they could relax, dine, and entertain in comfort throughout the year. Just as important was their desire for a design that blended effortlessly with the lush, natural surrounds, enhancing rather than competing with the landscape. The challenge? A steep, largely unusable block paired with a modest budget, requiring smart, strategic decisions to unlock the site’s full potential.
Working with the natural terrain, mature Turpentine trees, and existing pool, Corey Fox Landscaping designed a solution that maximised space and visual flow. A raised deck was built level with the pool to create one generous entertaining zone, complete with outdoor dining, a BBQ area, sun lounges, and a sheltered lounge space.
“A key part of the brief was creating a shaded space with a luxurious feel next to the pool,” says Corey. “We’ve worked with Life Outdoors as our Versiclad roofing installer for many years and knew this combination would deliver on both function and finish.”

To bring the shaded area to life without cluttering the poolside view, Life Outdoors turned to their trusted Luxe Cantilever system – a sleek, structurally engineered design that eliminates the need for front posts. At the core of the system? Versiclad’s insulated panels.

The Night Sky finish used on the roofing, posts, and flashings complemented the aluminium blade fencing and allowed the pergola to blend seamlessly into the surrounding bushland. The result is an outdoor area that feels intentionally integrated, not added on.
“As a landscaper I find that Versiclad tick all the boxes in terms of creating a high-end aesthetic, a thermally comfortable experience year-round, ease of cleaning and maintenance, and an affordable and easy installation process. The challenge was avoiding pergola posts right on the edge of pool coping that obstruct visibility and movement around the area.
